Jamela Acheampong is the Founder and Brand Director of Kahmune. After earning a Masters Degree in Finance & Accounting in 2016, she came up with the idea for her brand when she realized how hard it was to find quality, affordable products that matched her dark complexion. Forced to purchase a pair of white pumps and paint them to match her skin tone, she quickly decided to create a brand that would ensure no other woman had to do the same and thus Kahmune was born. A luxury marketplace for skin tone footwear and fashion, all products are designed in 10 skin tone hues in order to provide all women with a true nude option. Having spent the majority of her childhood living overseas, it is this international experience that Jamela cites as the reason she is so passionate about advocating for diversity and inclusion. Since launching Kahmune has been featured in over 75 publications across the globe and won the support of Lupita Nyong’o and Khloe Kardashian alike. Most recently, the brand caught the attention of investors at UBER and is on track to triple revenue in just its second year of trading.
